There are two words that are used for the word for: Por and Para. Most of the time when you think of for you will use para.
Here are some examples:
This gift is for you. => Este regalo is para ti.
We went (for) to buy bread. => Fuimos para comprar pan.
He is too young (for) to know. => El es muy joven para saber.
Por is used refers to a place or time, per, because (porque), and by or by means of.
They pay 10 euro per day. => Pagan diez euro por dia.
I did it because I have to do it. => Lo hice porque tengo que hacerlo.
It was made by hand. => Fue hecho por mano.
in front of => delante de
behind => detrás de
across from => a través de de
far from => lejos de
near => cerca de
over/above => sobre/arriba de
under/below => debajo/abajo de
inside of => adentro de
outside of => fuera de
between => entre de
De means of and for, and is used in the case of describing position, but also for possessives:
She is John's sister => Ella es la hermana de Juan.
De can be combined with el and appear as del:
He is the president of the group => El es el presidente del grupo.
I bought it from the woman. => Lo compre de la mujer.
The money is near the book. => El dinero está cerca del libro.
It is behind you. => Está detrás de ti.
with => con
Con combines with personal pronouns mi, ti, and si to make conmigo, contigo, and consigo.
Examples:
I'll come with you => Voy contigo.
Do not come with me => No vas conmigo.
without => sin
She left without him. => Salió sin el.
They entered without anyone noticing.. => Entraron sin que se diera cuenta nadie.
