These words, in Chinese can be used before (as prepositions) and after (postpositions). The word order emphasizes what is happening, and can be a difficult thing to learn, especially considering that many prepositions can be verbs, too. (These preposition/verbs are often referred to as coverbs.) Here is an example:
I am at home. => Wo zài jia. (zài acting as a verb.)
I at home eat. => Wo zài jia chifan. (zài acting as a coverb.)
at => zài
because of, for, to => wèi
each, every => měi
even, as, join, to link to => lián
to hold => bǎ (marks direct object, measure coverb)
by, to cover/wear => bèi (marks passive voice)
to gesture => bǐ (particle for comparison)
from (also: obey, observe, follow) => cóng
to, for, of, to give, to allow => gěi
to leave, depart, or go away => lí
to go to, towards => wǎng
direction, part, to, opposite to => xiàng
