Chinese Grammar: Sentences | Verbs | Nouns | Adjectives | Prepositions | Adverbs

English words have varying degrees, like "big, bigger, biggest", while in Chinese there are characters (words) that are used to indicate the amount or size.

Adjectives can also function as verbs ("static verbs" or "stative verbs"). They can also function as adverbs if a character is added. For example:
She is very beautiful. => Ta hen piao liang.
She is extraordinarly beautiful => Ta fei chang piao lian.


Possessive Adjectives
Add de to the personal pronouns to indicate possession.

My, mine=> wǒde
Your, yours=> nide
His/Hers => tade
Ours => wǒmende
Theirs => tamende

Examples:
This is my coffee. => Zhe shi wǒde kafei.
